Processing of Competition Data and Publication of Official Results (goodlift.info)

This website and the associated competition management systems process personal data related to international powerlifting competitions for organisational, operational, statistical and archival purposes.

The website operator acts as a data processor on the basis of cooperation agreements with several international sports federations (International Powerlifting Federation, European Powerlifting Federation and other regional powerlifting federations under International Powerlifting Federation), which act as data controllers in the meaning of Article 4(7) GDPR. Processing is carried out exclusively on the documented instructions of the federations (Article 28 GDPR).

No personal data are collected directly from athletes. Personal data are not transferred to any third parties, except to authorised representatives of the relevant federation and competition organisers, where this is necessary for the organisation, verification and documentation of the competition and its official results, and is carried out in accordance with the documented instructions of the federation acting as data controller.

No processing is carried out for independent or unrelated purposes, and no commercial profiling or marketing use is made of personal data.

Roles and responsibilities

Data controllers:
International sports federations responsible for organising the respective competitions.

Data processor / technical operator:
goodlift.info (competition management and statistical platform).

Processing activities may include systems used:

  • before competitions (registration, nominations, entry lists etc.)
  • during competitions (technical & officials lists, scoring and event management)
  • after competitions (official results archive)

Purposes of processing and legal bases

Personal data are processed for the following purposes:

  • registration and administration of competition entries and nominations
  • preparation of entry lists and lists of athletes and officials
  • accreditation and event logistics
  • management of competition scoring and event operations on site
  • publication of official competition results and records
  • statistical analysis and historical archiving of results

Legal bases under Article 6(1) GDPR include:

  • performance of competition regulations and participation arrangements (Art. 6(1)(b))
  • legitimate interests of the federations and the sports community in ensuring transparency, verifiability and integrity of results (Art. 6(1)(f))
  • long-term archiving in the public and historical interest (Art. 5(1)(b), Art. 17(3)(d))

Categories of data processed

Depending on the competition phase, the system may process:

Operational / organisational data (not necessarily public): name and surname; sex; year of birth; nationality / federation affiliation; weight / age / competition category; role in competition (athlete, coach, referee, official, technical staff); nomination and entry list data; start numbers and platform groups.

These data are processed for the organisation, administration and conduct of competitions and may be used in on-site competition management systems.

Data published in official results / archive: name and surname; sex; year of birth; bodyweight category / weight class; competition discipline results and placing; competition name and date; participation history.

Where athletes are minors, data publication and processing follow the rules and authorisations established by the relevant federation and the applicable competition regulations.

Only data necessary for the correct interpretation of official results are published (data minimisation — Art. 5(1)(c)).

Photographs, where displayed, are limited to neutral profile or event images provided by federations or authorised representatives. No biometric processing is performed.

Storage and integrity of competition records

Operational competition data (such as entry lists, nominations and officials lists) are retained for as long as necessary for the organisation, verification and documentation of the competition and its outcomes, in line with instructions of the federations as controllers.

Official competition results and protocols are preserved as part of the historical sports archive and are not deleted or modified after publication, as they constitute an official and verifiable record affecting rankings and other participants. This limitation of the right to erasure is based on exemptions for archiving in the public and historical interest (Art. 17(3) GDPR).

Where appropriate, personal profile details may be limited or minimised without altering official results.

Data subject rights

Athletes and officials may submit requests regarding:

  • correction of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR)
  • restriction or minimisation of public profile details
  • removal of optional attributes such as profile photographs

Requests relating to operational competition data or official results are handled in coordination with the relevant federation acting as data controller.

In justified cases, non-essential profile data may be limited, while official competition records remain published as part of the historical archive.

Requests concerning official competition results may be subject to the archiving and integrity limitations described above.

Source of data and international transfer

All processed data originate from:

  • official competition protocols and registrations
  • information provided by authorised representatives of international or national federations
  • publicly available information published on official federation websites

Where data are transferred from the EU to a third country, such transfers are carried out on the basis of contractual safeguards between the relevant federation (controller) and the platform operator (processor), in accordance with Chapter V GDPR.
